The
Day of Forgiveness
(Continued)

Slowly,
Elsa opened her eyes. She lay on the deck of a still ship. Her head
was throbbing in her ears. She tried to hold it in, but the moan
escaped her lips anyway. She closed her eyes, the suns glare hurting
them.
“Oh,
so the sleeping beauty awakes.” She heard a voice laugh.
“Leave
her alone, Marius!” another voice snapped.
Tomas.
Elsa's
eyes snapped open. She tried to sit up but found tat her arms were
bound behind her back. She struggled to get free, but she couldn't.
“Not
so fast, Queeny.” Marius chuckled. “You aren’t going anywhere!”
Elsa
moaned again as ruff hands hauled her to her feet.
“Tomas,
are we going through with what we planned?”
“Of
course! Prince Kristoff and Princess Anna have no idea that we are
the one responsible. And Hans is to dull to know we'd flee in the
exact detection we came from. He'd figure that we'd go home. So this
is the prim spot to do away with our little troublemaker.” He
caressed Elsa’s check, “After we have a little fun of course,”
His eyes screamed all sorts of evil plans. Elsa struggles to break
free, but that only made him laugh, “Tie her to the mast then we
shall have some fun!”
“Not
if I have anything to say about it,” voice called out.
Elsa
wondered at it, for it had such authority and love in it. Who was it?
She thought she recognized it but...
“You
said he wouldn't find us!” Marius whispered, clearly frightened.
“Sh!”
hissed Tomas, looking angry and mad, “go get a quiver of arrows,
your bow and Erik from the galley. Quick, before he boards us!”
Elsa
was tied to the mast by now and was struggling to break her bonds.
She watched as Tomas tiptoed up to the wheel and peaked over the back
of the ship. She felt helpless. Suddenly she felt a hand go over her
mouth and a quiet voice whisper, “I'm untying you. Be ready to
fight.”
Soon
the ropes fell to the ground. Elsa turned to thank the unknown
rescuer but before she could she heard a scram. Whirling around she
saw Tomas approaching with his sword raised high. Elsa swung she hand
upwards, releasing a blast of ice. Her blast hit true, clinging to
the the sword, making it to heavy for Tomas to hold. The sword fell
from his hand, smashing the ice off as it his the deck. Elsa quickly
ran to the front of the ship, turning just in time to avoid an arrow
fired by on of the brothers. But in avoiding the arrow, she slipped,
falling on to her side. She struggled to rise, her skirts making it
almost imposable. She rolled to her back, closed her eyes and waited
for the blow. But it never came. She felt an intense heat on her face
and opening her eyes, saw half the ship in flames.
She
stared at the lone figure standing in front of the great wall of fire
wondering yet again who her saver was. Slowly he turned and she saw
his face.
Hans.
The
man she'd so despised and hated for so long. The one she'd refused to
forgive. She couldn't control her tears any more. The fear, the
hatred and now the rescue were to much. She cried as if she'd never
stop. Suddenly she felt arms lift her; hold her. She looked up and
through the tears she made out Hans. His face was soft and kind. She
hid her face into his chest letting the tears flow.
“I'm...sorry Hans,” she choked out.
“What
for?” he questioned, softly.
“For
not forgiving you like I should. For hardening my heart against your
plea. I was wrong. Let me tell you right now. I forgive you.” She
looked up into his face. There was such hope in it.
“Thank
you, Elsa. And I forgive you as well.” He laughed, “You don't
know how relieved I feel! I've been waiting a month to hear those
word!” He's eyes looked into hers. “And there is something else.”
“What?”
Elsa asked her heart doing little skips.
Hans
turned and looked at the wall of fire. “I need to get you to safety
and then I'll tell you.” He turned to the edge of the ship, pulling
himself up on to the edge. He turned then, holding his hand out for
her.
She
hesitated just a second, before taking his hand and allowing him to
hold her close to his chest. Elsa looked at his face. It had a
steely determination in it. His eyes were closed as if he was
thinking very hard. “What are you doing Hans?” she asked.
“Sh.”
was his only response. All of a sudden he had stepped off the boat.
She gasped, arm flying around his neck, ready for an impact of icy
cold water. Instead she felt Hans walking across the water. Elsa
craned her neck to see if she could tell what was happening. She
looked down and saw that Hans was walking on... “Fire?”
Elsa
unwrapped her arms from around his neck, laying her head on his
shoulder instead. He had powers. Like herself. He'd hidden them away.
The words he'd spoken to her in the prison cell so long ago buzzed
through her head. “I couldn't let them just kill you.” He
knew, he understood. But he still had wanted her throne. Could she
just ignore that? She couldn't deny that her heart was telling her
what she did not want to hear. She had pushed it away on the ship.
Now it was over whelming her head as well as her heart. She closed
her eyes, old familiar words pounding her temples, “Conceal,
don't feel! Conceal, don't feel! Don't let it show!”

As
soon as they made it back to their ship, Hans called for the captain
to board his brothers and capture them.
Hans
was mentally exhausted from walking across the water twice. Elsa,
also being extremely worn out, had gone down below deck and fallen
asleep and though he was tired too, Hans couldn't get to sleep. He
tossed and turned out on the deck, but could not fall asleep. His
mind was filled with pictures of Elsa. Holding her in his arms was
one of the best things he'd ever done. The fact that she had openly
clung to him made him feel warm and cared for. She had been so
scared, and had turned to him for help. And when she had seen his
powers, she hadn't freaked out.
The
captain came back with the prisoners and paraded them down to the
hold. But not before they casted hateful glances Hans way. Hans
couldn't help but feel bad for them. “They made me do what they
need to do know,” he thought, “But they probably never
will feel remorse.”
He
rolled over to his back. Looking up at the stars, he finally forgave
himself. For all lies he had spun and all the lives he'd hurt. And he
finally let his mind say it.
“I
love you, Elsa.”

The
Day of Love
It
took a till next morning to arrive in in Arendelle. Hans rubbed his
hand across his eyes., rubbing the weariness from them. He'd been
running it through his head all night. How to tell Elsa what he felt.
He shook his head in frustration; nothing seemed right.
At
that moment, Elsa walked on to deck, stretching. Her dressed was
wrinkled and her hair mused, but even in that state Hans couldn't
take his eyes off her. She smiled and walked over to him. She smiled
and they stood there for a whole minute, just looking at each other.
And the funny thing was, it wasn't awkward. In fact it felt
completely right. How, they didn't know, but it was.
Finally
Elsa broke the silence first, “Thank you, Hans. For saving my life.
You didn’t need to. I treated you like...” She lowered her head.
She didn't know how to go on. She had been a witch to him. How could
she expect him to feel for her what she knew she so deeply felt? She
started to cry, feeling so depressed.
Hans
looked at her. Her head bowed so humbly. She looked so upset. He
could se he shoulders shaking. “Hey, hey,” He took her head in
his hands lifting it so he could wipe the tears away, “Don't cry
Elsa, please. I forgave you. Please except that.”
“I
do,” she nodded, “but...It's something more that troubles me.”
“And
what is that?”
“I...I
love you!”
“Truly?”
His
tone did not contain the disdain or humor she'd been expecting. It
instead held wonder. She looked into his eyes and saw it there. Love.
The complete and total love she felt in her heart radiated in his
eyes. “Yes.”
“Oh,
Elsa! I've had a sleepless night, trying to think of how to ask for
your love. And here, you've already given it to me!” He laughed and
swooped her into his arms. Spinning her above his head. As he set her
down he lend in and kissed her. Elsa was taken back only for only a
moment and then kissed him back. It was one of the most lovely things
she ever experienced
Love
had unfolded in her heart and bloomed.
Love
had burst from buried seeds in his.
And
together, they blended into the most fragrant garden.

Many
wonderful changes happened in Arendelle that year.
One
was the welcome of Elsa-May,
Kristoff and Anna's little girl. Named for the mother of Kristoff and
the sister of Anna, she was a beautiful little blessing in the royal
court. Joy was great in Arendelle at the new.
Another
was the announcement of Elsa's engagement to Hans. Though there was
some disdain on the towns peoples part, they soon welcomed him to
Arendelle after a apology speech.
But
one of the greatest change of all was in the hearts of the royal
family. All had forgiven and been forgiven. And the hearts of all
were melted. There were no more frozen hearts in Arendelle. And that
was a great change indeed.
